BRules: "Bullshit rules that you adopt to simplify your understanding of the world" - December 2018
Vishen Lakhiani coined this great phrase whilst trying to explain how you, in your world (or as he calls it, your culturescape) have so many beliefs, ideas and practices that have influenced you to where you are today.
Ideally most bring joy and happiness.
Unfortunately most limit you and cripple your personal future ways of life.
A very common and extremely relevant example now is how you believe that to have a decent career you need a university degree.
This belief or understanding might have been imprinted or passed on via family or mentors.
You probably never really questioned it either, it made sense and the ones that passed it one would have known what they were sharing. Or did they?
It is said that there will be more change in the world from 2016 to 2020 that in the 100 years between 1900 and 2000.
You almost 1 year away from that and it is pretty spot on.
If so much change is here and still coming – how can you be ready and prepared for the unknown future with old beliefs and unconscious thinking?
What value or reference do these old ways have for your new changed life and career?
As the future is sacredly unknown, ever changing, even as we speak, how can you master this or at least empower yourself to be proactive and not reactive to all of this?
Really study what rules are assisting you in your own dreams.
See what new rules you will need to make these dreams reality.
Important is to also identify the bullshit rules that could cost your dream and pro-actively eliminate them from your life.
Test your new set of rules to your own personal identity.
Razor sharply go for your end goals – those goals you really really want to achieve ignoring the fears and steps in between before embarking on the life changing journey.
This way as Vishen explains you short circuit the old culture scape of thinking and create new wiring needs to achieve your dreams and goals the way you want to.
The more you practice questioning everything, the stronger you should be developing your own sense of being.
The stronger you find your own sense, the more confident you should become.
Confidence is the key to unlocking your dreams!
I’m fighting for my dreams, my kids dreams and yours.
Freedom will get you there.
